Facts

  • Halloween falls on Saturday, October 31, 2026, the same weekend daylight saving time ends, NBC New York reported. Clocks will return to standard time at 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 1, which gives people celebrating Saturday night an extra hour.
  • Daylight saving time began at 2 a.m. on Sunday, March 8, 2026. November 1 is the earliest date on which it can end, so 2026 uses the earliest possible end date. In 2027 it ends on November 7, the latest possible date.
  • NBC New York reported that Halloween will not next fall on a Saturday, or overlap with the end of daylight saving time, until 2037. Halloween 2027 falls on a Sunday.
  • Whether the clock changes should continue is a live political question. PBS NewsHour, citing the Associated Press, has reported that the Senate is skeptical about making daylight saving time permanent despite pressure from President Donald Trump.
