Human Hibernation In Space “Bearly” Impossible

FACTS: Math tells us we’re better off indulging on dehydrated ice cream and binge-watching all 4 seasons of Ozarks than trying to kill time by napping in a tube. The daily energy expenditure for the human body during hibernation seems to be no different than when we are being couch potatoes. We would lose too much body mass during the process.

QUOTES:  Lead Author of the Study, Roberto F. Nespolo, researcher at the Millennium Institute for Integrative Biology in Chile,“Humans are simply too large, so the benefits of hibernation are little — as in bears — if we think just on energy savings.”
